With a history that dates back over 120 years, West Ham United are a team with a rich heritage. They were founded as Thames Ironworks, hence their nickname The Hammers, and are now a fixture in the Premier League set-up.

The reappointment of David Moyes as manager in December 2019 further appeased West Ham fans who have since seen their team secure a series of strong finishes in the Premier League.

The 2022/23 season was more of a struggle in the league but it ended on a high with victory over Fiorentina in the Conference League final in Prague.

European football has been good to the Hammers of late, as they reached the Europa League semi-finals in 2022 and then, the following year, brought home major silverware for the first time since 1980.

Prior to the Premier League era, West Ham's best domestic display came during the 1985/86 season under manager John Lyall, as the team secured a credible 3rd-place finish, behind Everton and table-toppers Liverpool.
