Chris Stapleton Biography

Chris Stapleton was born in Lexington, Kentucky, in 1978 and studied engineering at Vanderbilt University, dropping out after just a year.

In 2001, he opted to move to Nashville, Tennessee, in order to make a push into the music scene. He signed Sea Gayle Music as a songwriter almost immediately, and after playing in a few bands, he was signed to Mercury Nashville as a solo artist in 2013. That same year he wrote Drink a Beer, which went on to become a massive hit for Luke Bryan.

Traveller

2015 saw Chris Stapleton release his debut solo album with Traveller, which was recorded in Nashville's RCA Studio A, securing praise from all quarters and commercial success, leading to the record topping the US Billboard charts, going on to sell six million copies in the United States alone.

From A Room: Volumes 1 & 2

In 2017, Chris Stapleton's ambitious From a Room: Volume 1 and 2 saw the release of two studio albums in the space of six months, both of which charted well and reached number two on the Billboard Album charts.

Starting Over

Three years later, his next album, Starting Over, also did well, reaching number 31 on the UK Album Charts, the highest placing for Chris Stapleton at this point.

Higher

2023 saw the release of Higher, another successful Chris Stapleton album, which included his best charting US single to date, with White Horse reaching number 12.

Collaborations
