England vs Poland UEFA Euros Tournament Record

England’s early form in the UEFA European Championship could be best described as disastrous. While Sir Alf Ramsey’s side managed a third-place finish at the finals, it is worth remembering that in this period of the tournament’s history, only four teams took part.

1980, 1988, and 1992 saw England manage zero wins combined, resulting in group-stage exits on each occasion.

Euro 96 thankfully helped to eradicate the memory of those failures as Terry Venables’s side competed manfully on home soil. They topped their group, and their 4-1 win over the Netherlands is one game that will live long in the memory, as will the win over Scotland.
