Hornets Playoffs Tickets

It would be fair to say that the Charlotte Hornets have rarely made a consistent impact on the NBA, but they have, on occasion, made brief inroads into the postseason.

The team's NBA playoff appearances have been rare, and by March and April, the Hornets are not usually sitting pretty in the Eastern Conference, and in recent seasons especially, the Spectrum Center team, previously owned by Michael Jordan, has been pretty poor.

Lean Years

The Hornets entered the NBA in 1988-89, and their first four seasons were lean, but by 1992-93 the team made it to their first NBA playoffs, beating the Boston Celtics in the first round before losing to the New York Knicks in the Conference Semifinals, despite the best efforts of top talents like Dell Curry.

In 1994-95 the team secured their best-ever Eastern Conference position, finishing fourth.

Postseason Action

In 1997-98 they once again got to the Conference Semifinals, this time losing to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls in five games with Glen Rice impressing.

Head coach Paul Silas took the team to two successive Conference Semifinals in 2000-01 and 2001-02, losing to the Milwaukee Bucks and the New Jersey Nets, respectively.

The team was set to move to the city of New Orleans, with a view to a replacement team being placed in Charlotte.

Bobcats

In 2004-05 the team came back to Charlotte as the Charlotte Bobcats, and they played as the Bobcats for eight seasons, two of which led to playoff finishes.

In 2009-10 they lost to the Orlando Magic in a four-game first-round loss, and then in 2013-14, their last season as the Bobcats, they lost to the Miami Heat 4-0.

In 2015-16 they once again got to the NBA playoffs, losing again to the Heat, this time in a more respectable seven-game series, and they haven't made it to the postseason ever since.
