The amount that the Miami Heat has achieved given that they are a relatively new addition to the NBA is fairly impressive.
Having joined the league in 1988 the Florida based franchise has gone on to win three NBA Championships, six Eastern Conference titles and no less than 16 Divisional crowns and their appearances in the NBA playoffs have been frequent and substantial, let's take a deeper dive into just what they have accomplished to date.
The Heat scored their first playoff berth in 1991-92, losing to the Chicago Bulls in three games but by 1996-97 they had made it to their first Conference Finals, which they also lost to the Bulls but under Pat Riley the team were becoming a force to be reckoned with.
Four successive Atlantic Division titles were won and Alonzo Mourning, among others, were really making an impact.
Unfortunately in three of those four seasons it was the New York Knicks that saw them off in playoff clashes.
In Pat Riley's second stint at head coach the team won their first NBA Championship when, in 2005-06, Dwyane Wade led the Miami Heat to a six game NBA Finals win over the Dallas Mavericks.
That was just the start.
Riley's Heat took part in four successive NBA Finals between 2011 and 2014, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs in two while losing to the Mavericks and the Spurs in the first and fourth of that run.
Chris Bosh impressed in this era and a young LeBron James won back to back MVPs and FMVP awards.
In 2019-20 the team got to another NBA Finals, this time they lost to a Los Angeles Lakers side boosted by LeBron James.
Current coach Erik Spoelstra continues to take the Heat deep into playoff action and has been a dependable figure since he took over from Riley in 2008.
A display of the team's consistency can be measured by the fact that they have topped the Southeast Division in nine out of the past 13 seasons.
The Kaseya Center, as the American Airlines Arena and Miami-Dade Arena is now called, is almost always full to the rafters when the Heat are in action and therefore the pursuit of Heat playoff tickets can be a real struggle, that's where SeatPick comes in.
