Pelicans Playoffs Tickets

The New Orleans Pelicans joined the NBA (National Basketball Association) in 2002, and that meant a return to the league for the city decades since the Jazz relocated to Salt Lake City.

From 2002 and 2013, they competed as the New Orleans Hornets.

The team qualified for the NBA playoffs in their first season, losing to the Philadelphia 76ers in a six-game first-round clash.

The following season they did likewise, this time losing to the Miami Heat in seven games.

First Conference Semifinals Series

In 2007-08, during Byron Scott's relatively successful spell as head coach, the team won their first Southwest division title and saw off the Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs.

They were unlucky to lose to the San Antonio Spurs in a thrilling seven-game Conference Semifinals series, with star performer Chris Paul proving very impressive.

The following season a first-round playoff exit at the hands of the Denver Nuggets was a limp reward for Scott's final full season in charge.

Monty Williams took the team back to the playoffs in 2010-11, but a six-game loss to the Lakers followed.

Rebranded

2013-14 was the first season the franchise was known as the New Orleans Pelicans, and the next campaign saw another run to the playoffs ended early, this time at the hands of the Golden State Warriors, who wiped the floor with their opponents in a 4-0 defeat.

Breaking the Curse

2017-18 saw the team break their first-round curse, beating the Portland Trail Blazers in four games before, once again, exiting at the hands of the Warriors.

First Round Exits

In the team's first 21 seasons of action, the team has qualified for the postseason on a total of eight occasions. They have one divisional title to their name and have never made it to a Conference Final, with the Pelicans suffering first-round defeats in six of their eight postseason campaigns.
