Founded as the New Jersey Americans in 1967, the franchise didn't join the NBA (National Basketball Association) until 1976, by which time they had become the New York Nets.
In their one season in the league as the New York Nets, the team secured just 22 regular season wins and therefore fell some way short of playoff action.
In 1977-78 the team moved to New Jersey from Long Island and became the New Jersey Nets.
Their second season in this guise saw them secure a playoff berth for the first time. The team came up short against the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round, losing in two games.
Between 1981 and 1986, the team booked five successive playoff finishes, albeit losing four of those in the first round, and their one extended stay saw them lose to the Milwaukee Bucks in the Conference Semifinals in six games.
The 1990s were entirely forgettable for the New Jersey Nets, the team featuring in four playoff first round exists, two coming at the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers and one each against the New York Knicks and the Chicago Bulls.
Fortunately, under new head coach Byron Scott the team showed real signs of improvement.
In Scott's first season in charge, the team won the Atlantic Division for the first time and topped the Eastern Conference.
They then beat the Indiana Pacers and the Charlotte Hornets before taking down the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals to book a first-ever NBA Finals shot against the Los Angles Lakers.
Though they were buoyed by great talents like Richard Jefferson and Jason Kidds, they could do nothing to prevent a 4-0 thumping.
The following season they replicated the same great form and, this time, took on the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals and fared a little better but still came up short and lost in six games.
In 2005-06 new coach Lawrence Frank started well, earning the team a fourth Atlantic Division title in five seasons, but deeper runs in the playoffs were not secured.
In 2012 the team moved to Brooklyn, and the Barclays Center became their new home, and the Brooklyn Nets were born.
Between 2012 and 2022, the team was considered by many as one of the best in the league, but they have been unable to secure meaningful progress, despite having had superb talents such as Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and James Harden on their roster.
In 2022-23 Steve Nash was replaced by Jacque Vaughn, and the team made it to the postseason for the fifth season on the bounce.
The Nets are one of the biggest teams in the NBA, with the Barclays Center almost always sold out, and if you are looking for Brooklyn Nets tickets, then you've come to the right place.
Fans seeking the cheapest tickets to see the Brooklyn Nets at the Barclays Center can find just what they are looking for here at SeatPick.
