Bob Paisley was assistant manager to Shankly throughout his 15-year spell in the Anfield hot-seat, and he was named as the Scotsman's successor in 1974.

Paisley was Liverpool through & through, amassing more than 275 appearances as a player of the club. Upon taking the reins from Shankly, he evolved the team even further than his predecessor and ultimately delivered sustained success across his nine years at the helm.
