The UEFA European Championship has grown into arguably the second-biggest international football tournament in the world, and that has led to an ever-increasing clamour for tickets. This is the case for key qualifiers and, of course, the finals of the tournament.
The fact that, like the FIFA World Cup, the competition comes around every four years is a key factor in the massive demand, but the overall quality of the occasion is also driving that interest and efforts to get tickets via UEFA’s ticketing portal will almost certainly lead to disappointment.
The manner in which UEFA conducts the ticket release is questionable, to say the least, and it’s a route that most fans should think twice about. The first release of tickets occurs prior to the draw for the finals; this leads to a somewhat comical situation of supporters applying for tickets without having a clue as to which two teams they will watch in action.
All they’ll be aware of is the date of the game and the location, but not the two teams, and while this is undoubtedly a sign of the popularity of the competition, it’s far from ideal.
The subsequent release of tickets that comes after the draw is another headache for two reasons. Firstly, the number of people applying is mind boggling (and far exceeds the supply), and secondly, a huge chunk of the original tickets have already been assigned following the first lottery-style random draw.
SeatPick offers a far more reasonable solution to this problem. We work with hundreds of trusted ticket reseller sites, many of which are household names in the space, and these are available via our platform. Users can, therefore, easily sort through the large inventory of tickets and select those that suit their budgets.

For a country of its relatively small size, when compared with the real big boys of European football, Denmark have an amazingly strong record in the UEFA European Championship.
De Rød-Hvide first qualified for the tournament in 1964 but struggled and were beaten convincingly by the Soviet Union, 3-0, in the Semi-Final in what was, at the time, only a four-team finals competition.
Denmark then failed to qualify for any of the next four editions before their strong 80s squad, commonly referred to as the Danish Dynamite, made a real impact in France in 1984. They lost their opener against the hosts (and eventual winners) but then thumped Yugoslavia 5-0 and defeated Belgium 3-2 in their final group game, with star forward Preben Elkjaer scoring in both games.
They then lost their Semi-Final against Spain on penalties to bring their tournament to a premature end. 1988 proved a big letdown, with arguably their strongest squad ever losing all three of their group games.
At Euro 92, they got back on track in a big way. Richard Moller Nielsen’s side failed to qualify for the finals, but due to the outbreak of war in the Balkans, they were included in the tournament when Yugoslavia were disqualified.
In the group stage, they drew with England 0-0 and then lost to hosts Sweden, meaning they needed to defeat France to be sure of making progress, and they did just that when Lars Elsrtrup hit the winner in Malmo.
They then faced the reigning champions, the Netherlands, and played out a thrilling 2-2 draw, with Henrik Larsen scoring twice before the game went to a penalty shoot-out. Only Marco van Basten missed a spot-kick, so the Danes were through to face Germany in the final.
It was a game that saw Denmark as the big underdogs, but goals from John Jensen, who would go on to sign for Arsenal, and Kim Vilfort sealed a 2-0 win that secured the most unlikely title winners in the history of the competition, well at least until Greece triumphed in 2004.
At those finals in 2004, Denmark reached the Quarter-Finals, and at Euro 2020, they did amazingly well to battle back from an opening loss to Finland, which came during a game that saw midfielder Christian Eriksen almost die of a cardiac event on the field of play.
They eventually went out in the Semi-Finals when England defeated them at Wembley, winning 2-1 in extra time to secure a berth in the European Championship Final, which they would go on to lose to Italy.
Ukraine’s experience in the competition, in comparison, is fairly weak, though clearly, they only started to attempt to qualify for the tournament in 1996, having previously competed as part of the Soviet Union.
Ukraine hosted the tournament in 2012, along with Poland, but were unable to get out of the group phase, and Euro 2016 saw a similar chain of events. Euro 2020 was a far better campaign for the Yellow and Blues.
In those finals, they got out of their group and then defeated Sweden in the Round of 16 before losing to England 4-0 in the Quarter-Finals.
Denmark and Ukraine have never previously met in the UEFA European Championships, indeed, their only competitive clashes prior to 2023 came in the qualifying campaign for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
The first of these ended 1-1 in Copenhagen, and the reverse fixture saw former Liverpool winger Andrej Voronin score the only goal of the game in Kyiv. Ukraine would go on to qualify for those finals, while Denmark would not make it to Germany.
For this competition, fans will have to spend between $32 to $1,057 for face-value tickets.
Yet, buying Euro 2024 tickets via the official channels is often a near-impossible task.
