France vs Switzerland UEFA Euros Tournament Record

France hosted the very first UEFA European Championships in 1960 but lost both their games in the four-team tournament. They then failed to qualify for any of the next five editions of the competition.

That run came to an end in 1984, and only because they once again hosted the tournament and, therefore, did not have to qualify.

Switzerland have struggled for form in the UEFA European Championships, with their first qualification for the finals coming at the ninth attempt. At Euro 96, they managed just one point in the group phase and therefore went no further.

Similar failures came in 2004 and 2008, but in Euro 2016, they ended this run by getting to the Round of 16, where they lost to Poland on penalties.
