France vs Ukraine UEFA Euros Tournament Record
France hosted the 1960 UEFA European Championships, the inaugural competition, but somehow managed to lose their Semi-Final against Yugoslavia in what was then a four-team finals competition.
They were 4-2 up against their opponents but lost 5-4 in Paris and the Soviet Union, then duly beat the Yugoslavs in the final four days later.
That loss must have hit France hard because they didn’t qualify for the tournament for each of the next five editions. They finally returned to the finals in 1984, but only by virtue of being the hosts and, therefore, on this occasion, not having to qualify.
