France vs Serbia UEFA Euros Tournament Record

France hosted the first-ever UEFA European Championship in 1960 but failed to qualify for the subsequent tournaments in 1964, 1968, 1972, 1976, and 1980. They hosted the tournament again in 1984, so didn’t need to qualify in order to take part, and Michel Hidalgo’s side certainly impressed on home soil.

They romped through their group and then defeated Portugal in an enthralling Semi-Final, with Michel Platini scoring a 119th-minute winner in Marseille. France made light work of Spain in the final, with Plaini and Bruno Bellone scoring in a comfortable 2-0 win in Paris.

Euro 2000 was the next occasion they reached the final, having been beaten in the Semis by the Czech Republic in 1996.

In Belgium and the Netherlands, France once again beat Portugal in the Semi-Finals before edging past Italy in the final, with David Trezeguet scoring the winner in Amsterdam.

France’s third final visit came on home soil again, at Euro 2016. This time, they were undone by Portugal, with substitute Eder scoring a wonderful extra-time winner in Paris.

Serbia, in their current form, have never taken part in a UEFA European Championship finals. As Yugoslavia, they reached the final in both 1960 and 1968. As the Former Republic of Yugoslavia at Euro 2000, they did well to reach the Quarter-Finals of the competition before they were duly thrashed by the Netherlands 6-1, with Patrick Kluivert scoring a hat-trick in Rotterdam.

France vs Serbia Head-to-Head

France and Serbia have never met in a UEFA European Championship fixture, but they did meet in the qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in 2010.

The first of their two meetings in the qualifying came in Paris, and goals from Thierry Henry and Nicolas Anelka saw France secure a narrow 2-1 win, Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic scoring the goal for Serbia.

The return match in Belgrade finished 1-1, with Nenad Milijas putting the home team ahead before Henry equalized.
