Austria vs Romania UEFA Euros Tournament Record

Austria first made an appearance at the UEFA European Championship finals at Euro 2008 and that came after 12 successive failed attempts at qualifying. It’s worth noting, however, that Das Team only qualified on that occasion due to the fact they were co-hosting the event with Switzerland.

Playing on home soil didn’t aid their progress, and they managed just one point from their three group games. Euro 2016 saw a similar level of success, in other words, an immediate elimination, but Euro 2020 proved a much better showing.

They then lost to Italy in the Quarter-Finals in Brussels.

Austria vs Romania Head-to-Head

Austria and Romania have only previously met in one UEFA European Championship campaign, and that came in the qualifying for Euro 1988.

Legendary former Real Madrid and Barcelona playmaker Gheorghe Hagi was among the goals in a 4-0 win for Romania in Bucharest, and in the return fixture, the two teams drew 0-0 in Vienna, and neither nation made it to the finals in Germany.
