Deportivo Alaves Spanish Cup - Copa del Rey Tickets

Deportivo Alaves may only be one of the newest sides to have been established in Spain’s La Liga, they have already managed to have some rather solid outings in the Copa del Rey over the years. Indeed, with those performances in the competition, it is no surprise that so many of their supporters flock to the 19,840 capacity Estadio de Mendizorrotza when the games arrive on the schedule each season.

The club, who are known as Babazorros by their fans, have continued to go from strength to strength over the last few decades and their displays in competitive action have certainly been a result of the players they have had at their disposal. Individuals such as Víctor Camarasa, Oliver Burke, Aleix Vidal and Joselu have all made the club stronger across the squad.

Indeed, Deportivo Alaves have had some history in the Copa del Rey already, and have been able to boast about an appearance in the competition’s final. The club reached the showcase fixture in the 2016/17 campaign, although they had to settle for a finish as runners up.

Nonetheless, Babazorros have continued to perform rather well in the tournament since finding their feet as a La Liga outfit, as they have continued to reach the latter stages of the cup; except for their 2019/20 efforts.

That season is perhaps one of the most memorable for all the wrong reasons, as Deportivo Alaves were dumped out of the Copa del Rey in the first round of the competition, having been beaten by Real Jaén Club de Fútbol, S.A.D. 3-1.

Of course, the more positive accomplishments involving Babazorros included their run to the final in the 2016/17 edition, as they managed to defeat Gimnastic de Tarragona, Deportivo La Coruna, Alcorcon and Celta Vigo before being defeated by FC Barcelona in the final.

Deportivo Alaves have continued to produce rather solid results and fans will be hoping they can build on those memorable moments with their first Copa del Rey title in the near future.
