Manchester United vs. Fulham Head to Head

The two sides met at Old Trafford twice in the 2022/23 season, with Manchester United running out as winners on both occasions.

In March 2023, the two teams faced off in the FA Cup Quarter-Finals, and though Aleksandar Mitrovic gave the away side the lead, the West London team pretty much hit the self-destruct button with just under 20 minutes left to play.

The referee had given a corner only to be told to check the replay, and he subsequently changed his mind, and Chris Kavanagh then sent off Fulham boss Marco Silva for protesting, and Willian also got sent off.

To top things off, Mitrovic pushed the referee as part of the ongoing protests and was also ordered off, leaving Fulham down to nine men. Bruno Fernandes then slotted home the equalizing penalty before Marcel Sabitzer gave United the lead soon after, and Fernandes added a third for good measure to complete a 3-1 win and passage to the FA Cup Semi-Finals.

They met again two months later in Premier League action, and once again, Fulham failed to retain their lead, with Jadon Sancho and again Bruno Fernandes responding after Kenny Tete had given the away team the lead.

January 2013 saw another FA Cup success for United at Old Trafford; on this occasion, the Fourth Round match was plain sailing, with Ryan Giggs opening the floodgates with a third-minute penalty before Wayne Rooney and a brace from Javier Hernandez gave them a 4-0 lead, with Aaron Hughes scoring a consolation with ten minutes left to play.

Premier League wins for Fulham at Old Trafford are very rare indeed, but back in October 2003, they managed to record one, with Lee Clark, Steed Malbranque, and Junichi Inamoto scoring and Diego Forlan getting Man United’s only response in a 3-1 loss.
