Sheffield United Vs Luton Town History
Sheffield United and Luton Town are two clubs with little Premier League pedigree between them. The Blades have competed in a handful of editions but have never managed to maintain their Premier League status for three consecutive years. Until the 2023/24 season, Luton Town had never featured in the Premier League.
Both clubs have won major trophies though. Sheffield United were English top division champions in the 1897/98 season, and have won the FA Cup on four occasions. Yet, their last piece of silverware came all the way back in 1925.
Luton Town have won a trophy more recently than the Blades. The club’s only major honour came after beating Arsenal 3-2 in the 1988 League Cup final.

Sheffield United and Luton Town have usually faced off in the second tier of English football. Their last meeting in the top tier of English football came in February 1992, when the Hatters beat Sheffield United 2-1 at Kenilworth Road.
