Sheffield United vs Brighton & Hove Albion History
The first time these teams shared a pitch was in the First Round of the 1922 FA Cup. Brighton ran out 1-0 winners but subsequently lost in the next round to eventual winners Huddersfield.
Sheffield United had been crowned champions of England in 1898 and lifted four FA Cup titles by 1926.
Contrary, Brighton & Hove Albion do not boast many achievements from the past. At the end of the 2022/23 season, the Seagulls had yet to win a major (first tier) trophy since capturing the Charity Shield in 1912.
In 2017, Brighton earned promotion to the Premier League to end a 34-year hiatus from the top flight.
Northern Ireland midfielder Oliver Norwood made the move from Brighton to Sheffield in 2019, following an initial loan spell at Bramall Lane.

In 2005/06, young defender Phil Jagielka scored home and away versus Brighton. Sheffield Utd achieved promotion to the Premiership that season, while Brighton succumbed to relegation to League One after finishing rock bottom of the Championship. The Blades’ lasted just one season in the top flight by virtue of a single goal differential to Wigan Athletic.
The Amex Stadium hosted the first-ever top-flight clash between Sheffield Utd and Brighton in December 2019. Oli McBurnie was the only goalscorer in this Premier League fixture, a 1-0 win for the visiting Blades.
At Bramall Lane In April 2021, David McGoldrick scored the only goal in another 1-0 victory for the side from Sheffield.
