Spectacularly, the 1901 FA Cup final was the scene of the first-ever meeting between these teams. This grand occasion was watched on by an estimated 110,000, becoming the first six-figure attendance for a football match.
The final required a replay which Tottenham won by two goals to one. A non-League club at the time, the north London outfit lifted a maiden FA Cup title.

These teams have traded a small number of players in recent years. In 2009, Spurs made a double signing of young defenders who emerged from the Sheffield Utd Academy. Kyle Naughton and Kyle Walker switched to the capital, for a combined fee around £9m, although the latter immediately returned to Bramall Lane on a loan deal. Present day, Walker has amassed more than 75 caps for England.
