Hellas Verona are a side that have some history when it comes down to the Coppa Italia, with the club having proven to be a successful outfit over the years when involved in the domestic club cup competition as they have reached the final on a couple of occasions in the past. With the tournament remaining a rather appealing spectacle for the Verona fans to experience with their club, the 39,371 capacity Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi becomes an exceptional venue for the competition’s matches to be played at when on the club’s schedule.

The club, who have had numerous nicknames such as I Gialloblu, I Mastini and Gli Scaligeri all being used, have had a number of quality players turn out for them over the years in previous editions of the competition. Individuals such as Giampaolo Pazzini, Fabio Borini, Miguel Veloso, Ruslan Nigmatullin and Lee Seung-woo have all featured for the football club in the past.

As mentioned, Hellas Verona have had some success when they have competed in the Coppa Italia over its existence. I Gialloblu have managed to reach the final on at least three occasions, having finished as runners up in the 1975–76, 1982–83 and 1983–84 editions of the competition.

Since those appearances, the club have continued to put in a number of solid performances, however they have fallen well short in the quest to replicate some of those former participations.

Indeed, memorable moments for Hellas Verona have been few and far between in recent editions of the Coppa Italia, with achievements perhaps being remembered for all the wrong reasons at times.

For example, the Verona-based outfit have been on the receiving end of some shock defeats in recent competitions, such as the 2018-19 edition where they were beaten by Catania in the third round, whilst having also been defeated by Cremonese after extra time in the 2019/20 tournament in the third round.

The 2017/18 Coppa Italia, though, saw the club back at their best as fans managed to witness Hellas Verona get all the way to the Round of 16 after defeating Avellino and rivals Chievo Verona in a penalty shoot-out before being beaten by AC Milan.
