The history between these teams is by no means a long and storied one. The first-ever on-field meeting between Wolves and Bournemouth took place in 1948. This was precisely 60 years after Wolves became a founding member of the Football League.

Being the more established of the two clubs, Wolves were victorious by two goals to one in this FA Cup Third Round tie.

The teams met again nine years later, in the same competition. Bournemouth made amends by taking a 1-0 win.

Wolves and the Cherries didn’t meet again for almost 30 years, until the 1985/86 season when both teams were playing in the Third Division. Bournemouth beat Wolves home and away.

They shared a pitch in the second tier of English football for the first time in 1989. Towards the end of the 20th century, in 1998/99, the teams met in the second round of the League Cup as Bournemouth earned a 3-2 victory on aggregate.
