About Burnley FA Cup
Burnley History in the FA Cup
Three-time finalists, Burnley FC are a side that continue to look to make a return to their heydays when the FA Cup fixtures are released each season. The Clarets’ best chance of obtaining silverware is in the world’s oldest knockout club competition, although modern football has proven to be a difficult era for the Turf Moor outfit. Nevertheless, when a game is played at the stadium, the 21,944 capacity venue certainly becomes a place full of hope and passion.
Burnley have not been able to call upon superstar names like some of the other sides involved in the competition have been able to in the past, however there have been a number of internationals to have graced the turf to provide fans with an intriguing contest each time. Players such as Jay Rodriguez, Chris Wood and Danny Ings have all featured at some point for the Clarets.
Burnley's Top Achievements In the FA Cup
As mentioned, the Lancashire outfit have made three appearances in the finals of the competition, having picked up the solitary winners medal in their first appearance.
That winning campaign was way back in 1913/14, though, with two of their other appearances coming in 1946/47 and 1961/62. The tournament has not been too kind to the Turf Moor side in recent years, either. Burnley have only managed to make it to the quarter-final stage of the FA Cup once since 1983.
