Compared to some of the other clubs that have featured in the tournament over the years, Southampton may not have been able to boast about the stars they have had available to them, although they have had men like Danny Ings, James Ward-Prowse, Nathan Redmond and Stuart Armstrong all play prominent roles in recent memories.

As mentioned, the Saints do not have a vast collection of trophies to be able to count upon, however they are able to share the fact that they are a previous winner of the FA Cup. The Saints' victorious outing having come in the 1975/76 campaign.
Southampton's FA Cup final win over Manchester United on May 1, 1976 was one of the biggest upsets in the competition. The Saints were a second division side and United were strong favourites. The only goal of the game was scored by Bobby Stokes, in front of just over 99,000 people at Wembley Stadium.
This was not the only time the Saints have reached the tournament’s final showdown, though, having finished as runners-up in the competition three times in their history. In 1899/00, 1901/02, and the 2002/03 showpiece was their latest to date.
