About Tottenham Hotspur FA Cup
Tottenham Hotspur History in the FA Cup
Spurs are certainly an attractive side to watch in action and the interest has only increased over the last decade or so, as the club has been able to bring in a number of high-profile players in their quest of capturing silverware.
Watching any match, let alone in the FA Cup, at the magnificent Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a must for football fans across the spectrum, not only for those supporting Tottenham. With a capacity of almost 63,000, this state-of-the-art venue is one of the biggest sports grounds in the UK.
Some highly-regarded individuals have represented Spurs in the FA Cup over the years. Going back, stars such as Glenn Hoddle, Gary Lineker and Paul Gascoigne were instrumental towards THFC capturing FA Cup glory. Meanwhile, in more recent times, we've seen the likes of Harry Kane, Heung-min Son and Christian Eriksen all run out for the Lilywhites in this competition.
Tottenham Hotspur's Top Achievements In the FA Cup
THFC are one of the most successful teams in FA Cup history, having captured as many as eight titles. Spurs clinched a maiden FA Cup crown in 1901, followed by a second 20 years later. They subsequently went four decades without reclaiming this trophy, but ended their duck in style by winning back-to-back FA Cup titles in 1961/62; Leicester City and Burnley were the losing finalists.
A fifth success followed in 1967, with victory over London rivals Chelsea. Tottenham's next FA Cup triumph came in 1981, and once again the Lilywhites managed to retain the Cup the following year. Spurs got the better of Manchester City and Queens Park Rangers in the finals.
In 1991, manager Terry Venables led Tottenham to the title though the team left it late to beat Nottingham Forest, 2-1, at Wembley. Since then, Spurs have failed to get their hands on this famous trophy but will be looking to address that in the near-term future. Although managers like Mauricio Pochettino, José Mourinho and Antonio Conte have all been at the helm in recent years, the FA Cup remains a title that continues to elude the Lilywhites.
