Guardiola's men later defeated city rivals Man United in the 2023 FA Cup final. İlkay Gündoğan netted twice, including less than 15 seconds after kick-off, as the Citizens claimed a 2-1 win to lift this famous trophy for a seventh time. The two Manchester sides subsequently contested back-to-back FA Cup finals, though it was Man United who came out on top in the 2024 FA Cup final.
