Watford, who are otherwise known as the Hornets, have continued to establish themselves as one of the top-tier sides in England’s domestic game, as well as a worthy competitor in the FA Cup. The tournament, which is the world’s oldest club knockout competition, provides fans with the possibility of seeing their side play against some unlikely foes and with games potentially being hosted at Vicarage Road throughout the stages, the 21,577 capacity crowd comes alive as they urge their side on.

The Hertfordshire club have not always been in a position to be blessed with talent, however men like Troy Deeney, Gerad Deloufeu and Ben Foster have all been incredibly important for them in previous editions of the tournament, whilst men like Ismaila Sarr have seen Watford become an incredibly dangerous outfit to go up against.

Watford have not been able to lay claim to a FA Cup win as of yet in their history, however they have been able to say that they have been runners-up on two occasions. Their first taste of the final came in 1983/84, whereas they were also within a chance of lifting the famous trophy as recently as the 2018/19 campaign under the stewardship of Javi Gracia.

Of course, that final will not have been a positive memorable experience for those that follow the Vicarage Road outfit, as they were mauled at the hands of Manchester City at the Wembley Stadium; a 6-0 defeat really did not put the Hornets in a great light on the day.

However, many associated with Watford will remember their fairytale run to the competition’s final spectacle, as they managed to overcome the likes of Woking, Newcastle United, Queens Park Rangers, Crystal Palace (the only game to have been played at home), and Wolverhampton Wanderers after extra-time had been played.

The Hornets will be hoping to replicate that journey, albeit with the added bonus of winning the final showpiece and finally getting their hands on their first FA Cup trophy in editions of the tournament to come.
