As of 2023, the Red Devils of Belgium have qualified for the UEFA European Championship finals on six occasions, and in both 1984 and 2000, they failed to progress out of their initial group.
1972, a tournament that was hosted in Belgium, saw them finish in third place, and 1980 brought with it a final clash with West Germany. They were unfortunate to lose to a late goal from Horst Hrubesch in Rome.

Croatia’s first-ever European Championship as an independent nation saw stars including Davor Suker, Robert Prosinecki, and Zvonimir Boban enthralling the watching fans in England before they lost to Germany at Old Trafford in the Quarter-Finals.
At Euro 2008, Croatia started with a bang, beating Austria, Germany, and Poland to finish top of their group. They then took the lead in the 119th minute of their Quarter-Final clash with Turkey, only to see Semih Senturk level two minutes later before they fumbled in a big way during the penalty shoot-out with three of the four Croatians who stepped up to convert, all failed to do so.
Croatia were bundled out of Euro 2016 and Euro 2020 at the Round of 16 stage with defeats by Portugal and Spain, respectively.
Belgium vs Croatia Head-to-Head
Belgium and Croatia have never previously met in a UEFA European Championship finals clash, with their only two meetings happening in the qualifying phase ahead of the Euro 2004 tournament.
Croatia thumped Belgium 4-0 in Zagreb in March 2003 before Belgium edged them out 2-1 in Brussels a few months later. The Belgians would fail to make it to Portugal for the finals, whereas Croatia would go on to make it, albeit to only then stutter at the group phase.
