Belgium vs Serbia UEFA Euros Tournament Record

Belgium have a relatively impressive record in the UEFA European Championships but may well feel they could have achieved even more given the top stars and impressive squads they have assembled over the years.

De Rode Duivels first qualified for the finals of the tournament in 1972, albeit as hosts, and finished in third place, although that comes with a caveat in so much as there were only four teams competing in the competition at that time.

Roberto Martinez was in charge as Belgium eased into the delayed Euro 2020 finals, and the Spaniard’s side won all three of their group games with Romelu Lukaku in fine goal-scoring form.

Thorgan Hazard then netted a winner to see off Portugal in the Round of 16 before Belgium took on Italy in the last eight. Lukaku scored his fourth goal of the tournament, but Italy still edged to victory in a 2-1 success in Munich.

Serbia, in their current UEFA guise following independence, have never managed to qualify for a previous UEFA European Championship, though as the Former Republic of Yugoslavia at Euro 2000, they did well to make it through the group stage before being demolished 6-1 by the Netherlands in the Quarter- Finals.

Yugoslavia, in both 1960 and 1968, were beaten finalists and also finished in fourth place in 1976, when they hosted the tournament.
