Belgium’s form in the UEFA European Championship is patchy, to say the least, with their best form in the competition occurring in recent editions.

In 1972, they hosted the finals and finished in third place, albeit only four teams took part in that portion of the tournament. Eight years later, they did better to force their way out of a tough group ahead of Italy, England, and Spain, to then lose the final to West Germany in Rome.

Finland’s record in the UEFA European Championship is pretty shambolic. They have only qualified for the finals of the tournament on one occasion, and that came in the rescheduled Euro 2020 edition.

They started that campaign well, beating Denmark in an opener that saw Christian Eriksen suffer a cardiac event. The Finns then slumped to defeats against Russia and Belgium and were duly eliminated.

Belgium and Finland have met each other in three UEFA European Championship matches, the first two of which came in the qualifying stages ahead of Euro 2008.
