In 2016, Italy got a measure of revenge by beating an aging Spain side in the Round of 16. Euro 2020 saw something of a new-look squad battle their way to the semi-finals, where they were defeated by eventual champions Italy on penalties.

Euro 2024: Return to the Throne

The Spanish were comfortably the best team at the Euro 2024 finals held in Germany, easing through their group with maximum points & clean sheets.

La Roja then overcame Georgia, 4-1, in the Round of 16 followed by a slender 2-1 victory over hosts Germany in the quarter-finals. Spain proceeded to eliminate France in the semi-finals before they claimed a 2-1 win against England in the Euro 2024 final.
