Germany vs Finland UEFA Euros Tournament Record

Germany Euro 2024 are one of the most successful nations in the history of the UEFA European Championships.

1972 saw West Germany qualify for the finals of the tournament for the first time, and they then duly beat the Soviet Union 3-0 in the final to win the competition with goal machine Gerd Muller netting twice.

Eight years later, at Euro 1980, Horst Hrubesch scored twice as West Germany edged out a strong Belgium side in the final to secure a second title. In 2008, Germany once again reached a Euro final on this occasion, facing off against Spain in Vienna, with Fernando Torres scoring the only goal of the game.

Their more recent appearances have failed to yield the same level of consistency as you would typically associate with Germany, with Joachim Low’s side knocked out at the Round of 16 stage by England.

In marked contrast, Finland Euro 2024 have rarely made an impact in the finals of the UEFA European Championships and have only qualified on one occasion, and that came in Euro 2020. The Finns started their group phase with a win over Denmark, with Joel Pohjanpalo scoring the winner.

However, they then lost to Russia by a single goal, and in the key deciding clash of the phase, Finland lost 2-0 to Belgium and were therefore eliminated.

Germany and Finland have never met in the finals of the UEFA European Championships and have only been drawn in the qualifying stages together on one occasion.
