Perhaps the most prominent fixture between these two rivals, and there have been a fair few big matches, was in the 1991 FA Cup Final.

Stuart Pearce had given Forest the lead at Wembley Stadium just a minute after Paul Gascoigne had contrived to suffer a serious injury while fouling an opponent. Fortunately, Terry Venables's side managed to overcome the loss of the mercurial England international, with Paul Stewart leveling ten minutes into the second half. The game went into extra time when long-serving defender Des Walker netted an own goal to give Spurs the FA Cup Final win.

In their first-ever Premier League fixture, in the inaugural fixture of the rebranded English top division, Nick Barmby gave Spurs the lead before Scot Gemmil scored for Forest, only for veteran defender Gary Mabbutt to score a winner five minutes from time.

Forest wins at White Hart Lane were not frequent, but in September 1994, they collected a win with some aplomb, with Frank Clark’s side winning 4-1 in North London thanks to two goals from Dutch international Brian Roy and efforts from Steve Stone and Lars Bohinen, with Ilie Dumitrescu replying for Tottenham.

In March 2023, Tottenham had the upper hand over relegation-threatened Forest, with Harry Kane scoring twice and Heung-Min Son also scoring, with Forest’s only reply coming via Joe Worrall late on.
