About Sparta Prague Europa League
Sparta Prague History in the Europa League
AC Sparta Prague are arguably the most famous football club in the Czech Republic, and their international recognition could well be attributed to the number of times the team has featured in European competitions over the years.
Sparta play their home matches at the Generali Arena, also known as Stadion Letná. This ground can hold almost 19,000 spectators. This may be a modest figure compared to some of the other clubs in the Europa League, but the fans certainly make up for it with a raucous atmosphere in the stands on European nights.
Železná Sparta (Iron Sparta) have been represented by some of the best Czech footballers, past and present. Jan Koller, Pavel Nedved, Petr Čech, and Tomáš Rosický are just a few of the world-renowned talents who have worn the colours of Sparta.
Sparta Prague's Top Achievements In the Europa League
AC Sparta Prague have plenty of experience and history when it comes to playing in the Europa League, but have never won the title itself. In 2015/16 the Czech outfit defeated Lazio, 3-0, at the Stadio Olimpico to reach the quarter-finals, but subsequently couldn't navigate past Spanish side Villarreal.
The 1995/96 edition of the UEFA Cup (precursor to the Europa League) saw Sparta Prague lose to AC Milan in the Round of 16. Sparta reached the last-16 of the 2023/24 Europa League, where they faced Premier League giants Liverpool.
